Mass Spectrometry (MS) raw data is a critical research asset with high academic and industrial value in chemical and life sciences. However, raw data sharing remains limited due to insufficient integrity verification and incentive mechanisms. To address these challenges, this study presents a
mass spectrometry data sharing platform based on a hybrid architecture
combining a private blockchain and decentralized storage, incorporating sustainable
tokenomics. Raw data is stored off-chain in IPFS and MongoDB, while hash values and
token transactions are recorded on-chain using ERC-20 smart contracts. Furthermore,
an ERC-20 token (MSDT) mechanism rewards data uploads and recycles a portion of
download fees to sustain the reward pool. A platform integrating
Hyperledger Besu and IPFS was implemented, and data upload simulations verified
decentralized storage, hash-based integrity verification, and automatic MSDT
token issuance. The proposed platform provides a trustworthy infrastructure for large-scale analytical data sharing and promotes a researcher-centric data-sharing ecosystem. |
