Dendropanax trifidus (Thunb.) Makino ex H. Hara is an evergreen tree native to East Asia that has long been used in traditional medicine, particularly to relieve pain, swelling, and inflammatory conditions. Bioassay showed that 80% and 100% EtOH extracts of D. trifidus young leaves and twigs strongly inhibited NO production induced by LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells, with inhibition rates of 25.97% and 92.07%, respectively, compared to those of untreated LPS at a concentration of 100 mg/mL. Additionally, we investigated the untargeted metabolomic analysis utilizing liquid chromatography-integrated tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) associated with the GNPS platform. There are 32 metabolites annotated from the D. trifidus extracts produced by using different EtOH ratios (0%, 80%, and 100%), classified into groups of flavonoids, fatty acids, alkaloids, organic acids, and terpenes, along with other compounds. Findings from this study suggested the diversity of chemical composition and anti-inflammatory properties of D. trifidus. Therefore, D. trifidus has the potential to be developed into anti-inflammatory products in the future after confirming the inflammatory mechanism in higher-level activity experiments. |
