Monitoring the residues of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), its derivatives, and ultraviolet (UV) stabilizers in diverse food categories is essential for ensuring food safety. TBBPA and its derivatives are among the most widely used brominated flame retardants (BFRs) globally and are increasingly recognized as emerging contaminants due to their environmental persistence and bioaccumulative potential. UV stabilizers, commonly added to inhibit free radical formation under UV exposure, are also detected in food and other environmental matrices. In this study, we developed and validated a multi-residue analytical method based on the QuEChERS sample preparation technique combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the simultaneous quantification of TBBPA, four of its derivatives, and six UV stabilizers. The method involves solvent extraction, salting-out partitioning, and dispersive solid-phase extraction (d-SPE), with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) selected to enhance sensitivity for compounds with varied polarity.
