Household chemical products(HCPs) are mainly used indoors and can be exposed for a lot of time, so if harmful chemicals are contained, they can greatly affect human exposure. In particular, volatile organic compounds(VOCs) may be easily volatilized to remain in indoor air, and may be exposed to the human body through inhalation. HCPs indicates the ingredients, but the content is unknown. In this study, an analysis method using GC-MS was established to analyze the content of VOCs contained in HCPs.

24 VOCs were selected based on the list of substances indicated in HCPs, and an analysis method was prepared using GC-MS. The oven temperature was initially held at 35℃(3 min), then raised to 260℃ at 8℃/min, and then held for a further 5 min, with a constant flow of the carrier gas (He) at 1.2 mL/min on the DB-624 capillary column.

Validation was conducted to evaluate the analysis method established in this study. For the linearity of 24 VOCs, the r2 value was >0.99, and the LOD were 0.4 to 51.3 ppm. As a result of repeated analysis(n=5), the accuracy was 88.2~120.7% and the precision was less than 20%, which was suitable for quantitative analysis. The results of content analysis among HCPs on the market will be derived using this analysis method. Through this, it is believed that when HCPs are used indoors, the amount of chemical substances exposed to the human body can be used in estimation.
