The object of the presented study was the evaluation of the antioxidant activity of an extract from Ligularia fischeri seeds. A method for the preparation of the extract was chosen, which enabled us to isolate most of the phenolic compounds. Accord-ing to the measurements with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, obtained extract was com-prised of total polyphenols (122.30 mgGAE/g of extract), of which flavonoids con-tributed to 66.6% (81.46 mgquercetin/g of extract). Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high-resolution mass (HRMS) analysis showed that the phenolic ke-tones were predominant in the extract of whole phenolic compounds. Two spectro-photometric tests (the ABTS and DPPH tests) showed that Ligularia fischeri seed extract was better at getting rid of ABTS cation radicals than DPPH radicals.
